David Ross Linklater

David Ross Linklater is a poet from Balintore, Easter Ross. He is the author of five pamphlets and is a current New Writers Awardee for 2026. His poem ‘Spark’ appeared in The Scottish Poetry Library’s Best Scottish Poems 2024. He was the winner of the 10th Ó Bhéal International Writing Competition in 2023, the 2022 Neil Gunn Writing Competition and received a Dewar Arts Award in 2015. He has been shortlisted for the Edwin Morgan Award and holds a Masters in Creative Writing from the University of Glasgow. His work has appeared in Poetry Ireland Review, The Dark Horse, Butcher’s Dog, New Writing Scotland, One Hand Clapping and bath magg. His work is deeply rooted in his Highland upbringing, and examines themes of heritage, rural/urban landscapes, mental health and the human connection to the land. He has delivered workshops and performed widely throughout Scotland.
