Katie McKee
About
Katie McKee is an artist, writer, and performer. With a background in theatre and music, Katie began writing plays and songs that traversed a variety of themes, but found their strengths lay in understanding, reflecting on, and connecting with the human condition and how society can impact our experiences. After moving on from large scale theatre, Katie continued to write personal and emotional pieces, creating a suite of music and poetry reflecting the human experience of the deadly sins, a series of rhythmic poems on mental illness, and a number of one off pieces tackling grief, political rage, and overcoming trauma, for performance at slams and protests. Katie’s work often combines disciplines, creating supporting art or music to enhance the poetic experience.
Connection to Glasgow
Katie has lived in and around Glasgow, working and performing in a number of the city's communities (music, queer, comedy) for 13 years.
