Laya Newland

Laya is a poet who focuses on the serious and the silly. They first began writing and performing when studying at university in Norwich and have been penning performances ever since. They currently host and produce ‘Panacea Poetry’, an Oban-based spoken word event evolving from an interest in fostering spaces for poetry to flourish in rural pockets of Scotland. Inspired by the Surrealists, Laya employs automatic writing to explore politics, gender, sexuality, and the subconscious in their work.
