Luis Alcada

About

Luis Alcada is a writer and performer from Portugal living in Dundee, for unexplained reasons. They run Icebreaker and Nicemaker, have created content for BBC Social and Short Stuff with millions of views, and performed at dozens of venues from Lisbon to Bangkok (but mostly Dundee), including the Byre Theatre, Dundee Rep, and Tannadice Park. Their work blurs the lines between poetry and stand-up, comedy and tragedy, queer and conformity. Which sounds interesting but actually makes it a pain to market. "Whimsical and electrically funny" – The Magdalene, review for 'Dicebreaker' "Will make you laugh until you cry" - Abertay University "Every time I see you, you do something that makes me think that's not the kinda thing you do" - Audience review They're also the treasurer for Dundee Pride, occasional underwear model, and one time they were bitten on the lip by a meerkat (due to a misunderstanding).

Connection to Glasgow

Luis Alcada has performed at multiple shows in Glasgow, including a solo show at Glasgow International Comedy Festival.
