Mandy Beattie

About

Mandy Beattie is a feminist, former social worker, and academic with an MA in Social Work Research & Practice. Her poetry’s widely published in journals such as: Poets Republic; Drawn to The Light; Verse-Virtual; Lothlorien Poetry Journal; Ink, Sweat & Tears; Dreich; WordPeace; Visual Verse; Wildfire Words; Word Gathering; Spilling Cocoa by Martin Amis; Last Stanza; The Clearance Collection; The Haar; Purple Hermit; Crowstep; Spoonie; Abridged; The Pen Points North; Full House Literary; Five Words, Volume XVI Anthology; Morecambe Festival Anthology; Glisk & Glimmer Anthology; Advent With Annick; Poetry Super Highway; Alien Buddha Press; and more. Several of her short stories have also been published, including in, Howl New Irish Writing. Her work has also featured in: Big Girl’s Village Lockdown Showcase House of Commons; Poets Choice; and Marble Poetry. She was shortlisted for: Black Box Competition, 10th International Five Words Competition; Creative Future’s Award 2023; and Best of The Net nominee 2024. Forthcoming publication of her work will be in, Knee Brace Press.

Connection to Glasgow

After WW1 Mandy's great grandfather walked barefoot, with trench foot, from Glasgow to his home in Caithness . Mandy loves the nature & nurture of Glasgow, and of course the banter.

SP SQUARE CIC, however, DOES vet thoroughly any and all staff/contractors who deliver activities on its behalf.

By signing up to our activities, individuals agree to refrain from anti-social behaviour whilst engaging as:

a workshop participant; a member of City of Poets; a contributor to OILCAN;

and/or in any other SP SQUARE CIC undertakings/projects.

SP SQUARE CIC understands anti-social behaviour as any behaviour which,

in the view of attendant SP SQUARE CIC staff/contractors,

makes others present feel unsafe and/or uncomfortable.

Such judgement is entirely at the discretion of staff/contractors of SP SQUARE CIC,
