Morgan Black
About
Morgan Black says, "I made my public spoken word debut in September 2019. thanks to the Dundee Hotchpotch group 'for readers and listeners' which brought together poets, writers and artists. I used lockdown to write, record and rehearse many pieces old and new and returned to the live scene in Springtime 2022, with new-found confidence. I competed in the Scottish National poetry slam final in 2023 at the Glasgow Panopticon with parts of the complex social history work, 'Weimar', a series of in-character monologues set during the German Weimar era. I performed my first full solo show, 'Of Punk, and Other Social Subversions', at the Dundee Fringe in September 2023. In April 2024, I performed the one-off solo show 'Vamps, Tramps and Streetlamps'. I returned to the Dundee Fringe in 2024 with the show 'Stories of the Night' and reprised 'Weimar' for the SGSAH-hosted 'Hosts and Ghosts #2: Performance Art and Activism' event, Aberdeen in March 2026. As well as occasional open mic events I have performed works at Dundee Pride and Scottish Trans Pride. Poetry has been published in 'Metachrosis' literary and arts journal, the Glasgow Alchemy Experiment and in other international collections and periodicals."
