Organic Loins
Cat Cochrane
They met at Queen’s Park farmer’s market
she, third generation Strathbungo,
twice wed—he, Albert Drive hipster,
shouldering a wee WWF tote bag
Talked about loving local,
all the while radiating low
carbon footprint pride
She said her veg patch
was bumper this summer,
he replied his window box
had a lot to answer for
Her female wiles wanted
pinned against that box ledge,
his flanks hankered to bump
her patch up close
They walked opposite ways,
eyes full on dilated
—only a fortnight
til the next farmer’s market
